Regulators across the globe require funds to demonstrate their process for determining fair value. Most recently, SEC Rule 2a-5 has called on fund boards to enhance their oversight of methodologies for selecting, applying, and testing fair value determinations.
The Fair Value Leveling (FVL) can assist clients with classifying securities into the standard ASC-820/IFRS-13 leveling classifications (Level 1, 2, or 3) based on the client’s rules for determining the level applied to ICE’s market and derived data content.
To help clients test and validate their fair value methodologies under SEC Rule 2a-5 the service was enhanced to provide a deeper analysis of Level 2 securities to identify those that more closely resemble Level 1 or Level 3 securities. Investment managers subject to various global accounting standards,—including ASC 820, IFRS 13, GENPRU 103, and UK FRS 102—use this service to help determine the appropriate fair value levels for their holdings.
