The EPEX markets are instrumental in integrating intermittent renewable energy sources providing participants to balance positions closer to real-time and thus manage unforeseen events.

MIAX

The exchange began trading futures on Hard Red Spring Wheat (HRSW), which continues to trade today. In 2020 Miami International Holdings (MIH) acquired full ownership of MGEX which was then rebranded to MIAX in 2024.
