Purpose
The Formula Builder allows you to create custom formulas that combine symbols, studies, mathematical expressions, and other previously defined formulas. Each Formula Builder instance generates an editable, customizable ICE XL function that can be modified by selecting the function and clicking the Formula Builder icon in the ribbon. The Formula Builder Function is simple and intuitive to modify, and the Formula Builder Parameters allow for additional customization.
Formula Builder User Interface
From the ICE XL Ribbon, click Formula Builder.
| Name | The name given to a defined Formula. |
| Definition | The definition of the defined Formula. |
| Add Formula | Select Add Formula to create a new Formula. |
| Parameters | Select Parameters to access user customized options for your Formula Time Series Table. |
| Retrieve Data | Select Retrieve Data to execute and build your Formula table within your Excel sheet. |
| Formula Manager | Select Formula Manager to expand your library of saved and recently accessed symbols. |
Adding Formulas
Adding Formulas is done through an interface that allows you to introduce other formulas, technical studies, symbols, and arithmetic into your formulas. You will use the Add Formula box on the main Formula Builder window.
| Description | The name given to a defined formula. |
| Formula | The input field for your formula. |
| Symbol | Select to search for a symbol to use in your formula. |
| Field | Select to choose a field to use with the symbol (see below for additional information). |
| Study | Select to choose a study to be used within the formula (see below for additional information). |
| Formula | Select to choose a previously created formula to be used within the formula (see below for additional information). |
Realtime Formula Status
In the bottom-left corner a real time evaluation of your formula will be displayed.
Field
You can select to use a different time series field in your formula; the default is Last.
Study
You can select a study to be used within your formula. In the study dialog you will set various properties for the study and it will then be added to your formula.
Formula
